Letter of Asking Advice
Letter of Asking Advice
Letter of Asking Advice is letter
that used someone ask advice when they have a problem. Usually this question
ask the person who is already an expert in his field. Here are some rules to
make a Letter of Asking Advice.
- Determine what the advice giver has to offer. Ideally, you want to ask for advice from experts and experienced people who have extensive knowledge about the topic at hand. For example, if you want to work as a nonfiction writer, you might reach out to an accomplished writer, agent or publisher.
- Consider the motivation of the advice giver. Whereas a guidance counselor's job is to provide advice, others to whom you write may not be accustomed to dispensing advice on a daily basis. Determine how you might increase the motivation of the letter recipient to assist you. You might appeal to the advice giver sense of paying it forward or offer an exchange of services.
- Introduce yourself and your position or predicament. For example, if you just graduated from college and are writing to a company to determine how you can go about working in its particular industry, explain that you are a recent college graduate and express why you are interested in the field.
- Ask specific questions. Think of some questions that can be answered quickly. Avoid asking an extensive list of complicated questions that require hours to answer in writing. Formulate questions that draw out the advice giver's knowledge and expertise.
- Thank the letter recipient in advance for the guidance. Expressing your gratitude in advance will engender positive feelings and show that you are not taking the help for granted.
- Close your letter by providing a way that you may be contacted. Offering various methods of contact, such as a phone number, an email address and a mailing address will accommodate the advice giver's preferred method of communication.
